About Ben
Ben Spotswood is an Americana singer-songwriter from the Alabama Gulf Coast, now based in Atlanta, Georgia. Raised on church harmonies, school plays, and long drives filled with music, songwriting has been part of his life for as long as he can remember. After early piano lessons and a first attempt at guitar in his teens, it was at 16 that he fully committed to playing and singing—an inflection point that set him on the path he’s still walking today.
Deeply influenced by Dave Matthews Band, along with artists like The Black Crowes, Sturgill Simpson, Tyler Childers, Tom Petty, and Foo Fighters, Ben blends southern storytelling with driving, band-forward energy. His sound lives at the intersection of Americana, rock, and country; melodic and reflective, yet rhythmic and forward-moving.
During college, he played in a band with his brother in Mobile, Alabama, before relocating to Austin, Texas, where he sharpened his craft at open mics across the city and performed in an official showcase at South by Southwest in 2019. Now cutting his teeth in the Atlanta music scene, he’s built a reputation as a consistent live performer, playing nearly 100 gigs in 2025 and twice finishing as a finalist in Eddie’s Attic’s renowned Songwriter Open Mic nights.
His 2025 singles, “Walk On” and “Speed Limit Blues,” mark the beginning of a new chapter, capturing the grit, growth, and forward motion that define his songwriting. With a percussive guitar style, a soulful vocal delivery, and a natural ability to connect with a room, Spotswood’s live shows shift seamlessly from intimate storytelling to full-tilt, roots-rock drive.
As he continues to grow a dedicated audience throughout Atlanta and the Southeast, Ben is preparing to release his debut EP in mid-2026, music rooted in movement, responsibility, loss, and the defining moments that shape who we are and where we’re headed.
